About me

Kim Watts (Seago)

Creativity has been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of sitting on my Grandad Seago’s knee as he watched the Saturday horse racing. I would beg him to sketch the racehorses as they glided over the jumps. Watching him bring those majestic creatures to life with just a pencil was the most magical thing I’d ever seen. It was in those moments that my passion for all things creative was born.

Today, I channel that childhood wonder into my art. Inspired by the beauty and vitality of the natural world, I create vibrant, floral, nature-infused paintings using watercolour and gouache, sometimes acrylics and oils too! I love to add a touch of sparkle and shine to each piece, infusing my work with a sense of magic.

My goal as an artist is to bring a little light and joy into the homes and lives of others. Through my work, I hope to remind people of the beauty that surrounds us and inspire a deeper connection to the natural world.

Thank you for being here and sharing in my creative journey.

Family Connections

After leaving Plymouth College of Art and Design where I studied ceramics and silversmithing,  I went on to train in Antique Restoration, specialising in french polishing, but my life took a different pathway and it was only recently I re-discovered my artistic passion. It does run in our family and Edward Seago who was a Watercolour artist who painted for the royal family and taught Prince Philip and King Charles to paint (Seago which is my Maiden name) was a relation on my Grandads side.... this probably explains why he and my Uncle John were so good at drawing!

Influences

I was brought up in the countryside so nature plays a big part in my life, my family taught me from a very young age to respect our natural world and you will see these influences within my work.  I am inspired by botanical and chinoiserie styles and often use metallic gold to emulate this charming aesthetic.  Using Watercolour and Inks, Oils and Acrylics,  every painting is embellished with sparkle and light.
